TASK 1 - Create a new post, copy and paste the Learning Objectives onto it... You need to title the new post "NEA BRIEFS".
Write an introduction to the task... something along the lines of: "In this post I'm going to choose my brief for the NEA and I'll be coming up with initial ideas for both the required products... I will be creating a mind map to record my ideas".
Write an introduction to the task... something along the lines of: "In this post I'm going to choose my brief for the NEA and I'll be coming up with initial ideas for both the required products... I will be creating a mind map to record my ideas".
--------------------------------
TASK 2 - Read through the briefs and select ONE... write a short paragraph explaining why you chose it. Make sure you include the following information in your explanation as well:
- What skills do you already have that can help you produce your chosen media texts?
- What skills do you intend to develop whilst working on your media texts?
Be specific about the skills - don't just write "Photoshop skills" or "Video editing skills", make reference to specific skills from Photoshop or video editing that you either know or want to develop.
Make sure you choose your brief well, read ALL the information and requirements to make sure you fully understand what's required.
Further guidance:
- You must not reproduce an existing media product or brand.
- Group productions are not permitted but you can use your friends and others to act in, or appear in, the media production. In addition, unassessed learners and others may operate lighting, sound, recording and other equipment under your direction if required.
- To make it simple... these briefs are individual. You can use other people to help you but make sure you end up doing all the technical tasks (photography, filming, editing, etc). You're NOT required to be in-front of the camera in your own production.
---------------------------------
TASK 3 - Create TWO mind maps of initial ideas for the main product and the website in your chosen brief. You may use popplet, padlet, goconqr or other technology to record this.
Key information required in your mind map:
- Potential name for the production (working title).
- Potential names of people you might work with (remember it's NOT group work).
- Potential target audience for the production. The brief already gives you an idea but you need to be more specific. You need to cover sexuality, gender, race and interests, demographics, psychographics.
- Ideas for type of content - types of scenes, characters, artists, narrative, interviews, sound effects etc.
- Ideas for type of images and shots, sound effects, etc.
- Ideas for mise-en-scene for each of the images, video shots (colour scheme, locations, props, make up, hair, etc).
- Ideas for types of representations and stereotypes you might include in your production.
The mind map below is an example to get you started... it's very basic and it doesn't contain all the info above... so just use it as a guide or to get your creativity flowing!
You could use Bubbl.us as another platform for creating mind maps.

Task 5 - Write a conclusion that summarises all of your ideas for both products.
